Yucca Giant-Skipper is locally uncommon statewide in association with the hostplant, Yucca filamentosa, which is abundant on granite outcrops that occur in an east-west band from Elbert County to DeKalb County (Stone Mountain, Panola Mountain, Arabia Mountain), Troup County. It also grows in patches in the Sandhills that stretch in an east-west band from Augusta to Columbus, as well as in pine woods in the Coastal Plain. There is one brood in March and April. The pupa overwinters and emerges in the spring. During warm springs, the first adults appear in early to mid-March, but during cold springs, they appear later in March into April and occasionally into early May (DeKalb County, May 5); ( Dawson County, March 1; Meriwether County, March 7; Early County, March 19; Muscogee County, March 21; Monroe County, March 26; Bibb County, March 26: Jones County, March 25, Greene County, April 10-30; Charlton County, April 19). Conservation Status: Secure.
