Swarthy Skipper
Nastra lherminier

Swarthy Skipper, notorious for being non-descript due to its lack of field marks, is widespread but uncommon throughout the state. It may be absent from the high elevations in the mountains. The habitat is widely varied from dry sandhills to grassy marsh edges, but it is usually found in open grassy areas. There are two broods: the first occurs from early May (May 4, Muscogee County) to early June (June 2, Chattooga County and Forsyth County); the second occurs from early July (July 11, Walker County) to late September (September 28, Richmond County). Conservation Status: Secure.
