Southern Skipperling 
Copaeodes minima

Southern Skipperling is common in the Coastal Plain and fairly common in the southern Piedmont becoming more uncommon farther north in the Piedmont with no sightings in the more northeasterly counties that include the Mountains. It is uncommon in the Ridge and Valley. The habitat is open areas with low grasses. The hostplants are not well known, but Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) has been documented. (Cech and Tudor 2005). There are multiple broods from March (March 31, Early County) to November, with more sightings reported in late summer and fall (October 25, Jeff Davis County, November 27, Charlton County). Conservation Status: Secure.
