Delaware Skipper
Anatrytone logan

Delaware Skipper is uncommon statewide except on the Coast where it is locally common. On the Coast and in the Lower Coastal Plain, it is found in freshwater marshes and boggy areas with sedges or grasses. North of the Fall Line, it is found on the edge of woods near streams (Bartow County) or near swampy areas. In Dougherty County (Southwest), it was found in dry fields with high switchgrass at Chickasawhatchee WMA. There are two broods: the first appears from the first week in May through June and the second occurs in mid-July into September. The hostplants are big bluestem (Andropogon gerardi), switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) and wooly beard grass (Erianthus divaricatus). Early Date:(First Flight) May 2 (Charlton County); Late Date:(First Flight): June 28 (Fannin County). Early Date: (Second flight) July 10 (Screven County); Late Date: (Second Flight) September 14 (Fulton County). Conservation Status: Secure.
