Confused Cloudywing
Thorybes confusis

Confused Cloudywing is uncommon north of the Fall Line but is locally common in the Sandhills and the Coastal Plain. It seems to prefer dry pine flatwoods and sandhills, although it does occur in more mesic habitats. The hostplant cited by Harry Legrand is Florida hoarypea (Tephrosia florida), a plant that occurs in the Coastal Plain. Lespedeza and vines in the pea family are also used. There are two broods from March (March 11, Bibb County) to mid-May (May 16, Grady County) and from mid-June (June 12, Upson County) to late August (August 28, Burke County) and probably into September. Early Date: March 11 (Bibb County); Late Date: August 28 (Burke County). Conservation Status: Secure.
